"New Year New Zealand " - Premier Kiwi wines with Ivan Dixon
Monday 5th February 2007
7.00pm
The Bridge, 58 Bridge Street, Deansgate, Manchester (Directions)
When we spoke to the immensely talented Ivan Dixon about presenting a tasting of New Zealand wines, he was quick to seize the opportunity, but on one condition - we could only show Premier wines!
Ivan has good reasons - New Zealand wines don't come cheap and by paying a bit more the rewards are measurable.
We're stealing him away from Harvey Nichols wine department where he is resident wine-nut, to take us through a sumptuous selection of really beautiful wines. We'll immerse you in their landscapes and flavours, and travel through this truly bewitching world of wine.
Tickets: £23
NB Only 6 places left!
"France v. Pretenders " - A fight for French wine's honour with Ray Abercromby
Monday 5th March 2007
7.00pm
Slug & Lettuce, Wilmslow Road, Didsbury, Manchester (Directions)
Why should we pay a fortune for French wine? Do they deserve the hype? Does "terroir" matter? How much of what we taste is down to human intervention, and how much credit should the vine get? What about the many challengers round the world who strive to beat the French at their own game?
Come to our tasting and make up your own mind. We're going to have a blind play-off between a fine wine selection of French v. the World, and see what happens...
It promises to be a highly entertaining night, led by the most enthusiastic "wino" we know, Ray Abercromby. So bring your opinions and we'll see if we can shake 'em up a bit!
Tickets: £20
